It’s always a good idea to know where your property’s natural gas meter is located.

For most properties, the meter located in a metal box at the front side of the house. You may have a gas-only or combined gas/electrical meter box.

Before turning off your gas supply, you need to turn off all gas appliances and pilot lights.

Once this is done, you’re ready to turn off your gas supply tap, which is usually found in your meter box:

• To shut off your gas supply, turn the tap handle to the horizontal ‘off’ position.
• To turn on your gas supply, turn the tap handle to the vertical ‘on’ position.
