How are natural gas monthly instalments calculated?

Residential natural gas

With Kleenheat’s easy monthly instalments, you can pay smaller amounts more frequently instead of big quarterly bills, helping you avoid bill-shock – particularly in the winter months.

We recalculate your instalments every three months when your meter is read, and any changes to the instalment amount will be shown on your bill.

Your monthly instalments will be calculated using both your forecasted gas usage and an adjustment factor.

Here’s how it works

We forecast your home’s likely usage for the three months ahead and base your monthly instalments on these figures. In most cases, we base our forecasting on the amount of gas used at your property at the same time the previous year.

Following each quarterly gas meter reading at your home, we look at the amount of gas you used to help calculate your next round of monthly instalments.

If your home is a new build, or if we don’t have a usage history for your home, we’ll base your first instalments on the Perth Metro average for gas use at that time of year.

Using the Perth average means it’s possible monthly instalments may be a little higher or lower than you’re used to paying to begin with. Once we receive your home’s quarterly gas meter readings, we’ll adjust your instalments accordingly.

If you ever think your upcoming monthly instalments might not match your household gas usage, give us a call on 13 21 80 and we’ll be happy to help.

You can also take a look at our monthly instalments page for more information on how regular payments are calculated.
